Best Detox Tea For Weight Loss – Green, Black or Red?

As a cardiac nurse, I am always looking for healthy and safe weight loss ideas and am not a real fan of crash diet programs. They are not good for your heart and many of them are not sustainable.

It has been known for years now that detox tea plays a role in weight loss. But, the question is, what is the best detox tea for weight loss?

The philosophy behind Fit Watches For Women has always been to provide women with good information to improve their overall health and fitness through the monitoring of daily activities and to motivate them as well to stay fit and healthy.best detox tea for weight loss

Of course, if you are over weight or just need to lose a few pounds, detoxifying your body is always a good idea, especially if a natural and healthy approach is practiced.

Detox Tea and Weight Loss

A common misconception amongst dieters is not taking into account what they drink. Many of them focus on what they eat and not necessarily what they drink. The truth is the liquids that you consume can have just as big of an impact gaining weight and negatively affecting your overall health as the foods you consume.

Of course, for people who are serious about losing weight, it is no surprise that soda and alcohol are not that great for your weight loss efforts, but what about black tea and green tea?

Are they a good detox tea and are they good for weight loss – or do they actually cause weight gain?

The answer may be surprising. As many people think that, particularly green tea, can help you lose those unwanted pounds. But, this may not actually be the case.

Studies Indicate that Green Tea Has No Affect On Weight Loss.

best detox tea for weight lossOne such study is published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2009. It found that extract of green tea did not affect the metabolic resting rate of normal weight men. 12 of them to be exact.

Also, another review, known as the Cochrane Review of green tea research revealed that green tea led to only a small, insignificant weight loss in obese or overweight adults. This same review also indicated that regular consumption of green tea did not help to keep weight off in people.

In addition to all of this, the problem could also be compounded if you are putting sugar into your green tea as well. This can certainly be a source of extra calories that many people do not account for.

Many experts agree that people who are frequent green tea drinkers may also consume as much as 300 calories or more a day from just sugar.

What About Black Tea?

OK, so is black tea a good detox tea for weight loss?

Most people do not realize that black tea is actually just green tea that is burnt, and is loaded with caffeine, just like regular green tea. Drinking too much caffeine can cause heart palpitations, vomiting, nausea and, as many of us know, gives us the “jitters”.

Even decaffeinated black or green tea destroys most of the natural ingredients that are supposed to give us benefits. It makes more sense to drink a type of tea that contains no caffeine in a natural way. Yes, like the type of tea that I am about to reveal to you.

There is another problem with black tea and that is that it is often consumed with milk, which slows down the absorption of antioxidants and polyphenois. Even skim milk slows this same process down at a larger extent than whole milk (Slim milk is not natural, by the way).

So, this all being said, if green and black tea are not ideal, then…, .

What Is The Best Detox Tea For Weight Loss?

This is an interesting question and even more interesting is where the answer was actually found. Ready for this?

The Red Tea DetoxIn the jungles of Africa. This is where tribesmen from Kenya drink red tea to rid themselves of hunger pangs while they hunt for their next dinner.

We have discovered from them that Red tea not only does a great job getting rid of hunger pangs but promotes the burning of fat and boosts energy naturally without caffeine! Yes, red tea is totally caffeine free. This is the perfect health drink that tastes good, clears toxins from the body and reduced fat-storing hormones. Plus, it promotes the production of these fat-burning hormones as well.

In addition to all of this, it balances insulin and reduces stress.

There are 5 unique ingredients that go into red tea and it is these ingredients, which, by the way, can be found in your local grocery store, that work together make red tea the ultimate metabolism-boosting, energy-revitalizing, fat burning drink. Plus, these ingredients are not found in black or green teas.

As mentioned before, red tea is caffeine free. It is also vegan and vegetarian safe, is dairy free, gluten free and sugar free.

This makes it a great alternative to caffeine since it give you no jitters. This way burning fat is safe and very fast. It also contains no fats or carbs. Plus, the taste is mild and naturally sweet.

Another plus about red tea is that it contains no oxalic acid, which means there is no risk of getting kidney stones, unlike green and black teas. It is also very low in tannin levels, therefore, is better for you them black and green teas. Red tea is also packed full of antioxidants that fight oxidative damage caused by body toxins. This has an overall affect of boosting your immune system.

Best Detox Tea For Weight Loss

It is a fact that green tea does contain antioxidants and that these components contribute to maximizing one’s health and minimizing health risks such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.

However, green tea, although beneficial, is now losing value when compared to another rival known as rooibos.

Rooibos is also known as red tea and is also very high in antioxidants, although it is sourced from different substances to that of both green and black teas. 1. Hello Julie! Thanks for your article on Best detox Tea for weight loss.  Wow! This is new to me, I also have this erroneous belief that green tea work wonders for weight loss. I mean with all the adverts and reviews I see online, one will erroneously believe so too, although I have never tried green tea myself because I am not fat.Who could have believed that regular consumption of green tea doesn’t help over-weight adults to lose weight. Your article is really informative. I now know that black tea is simply burnt green tea that is loaded with caffeine which of course has health implications on its consumers. Thanks for your review and for schooling me on the best tea for weight loss, which is Red tea.

  5. Thank you so much for this interesting article about Best Detox Tea For Weight Loss.  I was surprised, and I thought green tea is good for weight loss. There are lots of brands which promotes green tea for weight loss. I am taking red tea twice a day but with milk powder and sugar. Is it a good habit to follow? What is the best time to make red tea? I appreciate your answer. Thank you.

    • Hi Yasodhara, thanks for your feedback. In answering your question regarding the best time to make red tea I have to say, the best time to make red tea is anytime during the day. You are correct that green tea is promoted as a weight loss supplement, but as you can see from the evidence stated in my article, it is not as effective as red tea. Green tea does have its place depending on the brand you choose. For example, I like to drink Sleepy Time Green tea before bed. It does relax me and along with other supplements, helps me sleep better.

To answer your other question, I do not think adding sugar is as good as not having the sugar. The red detox tea that we promote in this article does have a mild sweet flavor to it as is and does not require additional sugar. Perhaps you should give it a try. You may be surprised by the mild sweet flavor it has on its own. Thanks again for your feedback and have an awesome weekend!

  8. Hi Julie – Red tea; who’da thunk it?  I am a man and I love my tea.  I have just gotten over a prolonged bout with kidney stones so I am taking this article to heart (and kidney).  My wife and I are always trying to “do the right thing” as far as our diet goes and I think you’ll make a big impact on us and our friends.

Nurses Rule!  In our circle, we know how important nurses are and how often they are overlooked.  Thank you for all you do and especially the great red tea info.

Thank you for your thorough and detailed research about the best kind of tea for weight loss.

If I’m being honest, I LOVE tea. Black, green, red, white… They’re all amazing, and I rotate them on a daily basis. I had no idea that red tea had such amazing benefits for weight loss. I drink it because it’s healthy and tastes good, but hey if it can help get rid of a couple of pounds, who am I to complain… 😉

I will definitely do a little more research on the subject, you have piqued my interest!

  10. This is great news for me! It means that I can stop feeling guilty about not drinking green tea. I have read that it is good for many things but I don’t like the way it tastes, so I don’t drink it. I like what you said about the red tea, that it will help to eliminate harmful belly fat by working with our own body’s natural metabolism. That’s cool. I have never tried red tea but based on your description, I think I will like it.

    Thank you for this information.

  11. I’m a lifelong drinker of black tea, and have been drinking green tea for about ten years, but this is the first time that I’ve heard of red tea. Although I like green tea, and it has a lot of other benefits, I have to admit that there are probably better things to help with weight loss than green tea. Red tea certainly looks like it’s worth trying.
