That being said, we have taken, what we consider to be the top 3 fitness watches that meet most of the criteria for fitness, comfort and style.
There are important considerations to be made including functionality, battery life, fitness features and a host of others as well. However, wearing a fitness watch is also about expressing personality as well so design and comfort is a must for many female buyers as well.
Have a look at our top 3 picks for the best fitness watches for women. We have taken a lot of factors to determine this small list.
Fitbit Charge 2
We believe that the Fitbit Charge 2 is one of the best fitness watches available for your money. There is an awesome companion application that makes this an easy recommendation.
The Fitbit Charge 2 is extremely easy to use, with exercise, sleep, heart rate tracking and many more features. It’s not only a great looking fit watch, but it has an easy to read display with a huge amount of functionality to help monitor your fitness activities. Combine these features with great heart health exercises, and you will be on your way to your fitness goals.
Fitbit Charge 2 Features
The Fitbit Charge 2 tracks your steps, your calories burned, distance, your hourly activities, active minutes, plus your sleep duration and quality. Plus an altimeter records number of steps climbed. Pushing yourself to take the stairs rather than the elevator, or running uphill rather than on a flat surface is a great way to increase your heart rate and, of course, burn calories.
The Fitbit Charge 2 has a PurePulse Heart Rate monitor, which allows you to track your workout intensity and calorie burn, and see the results by interactive charts and graphs on the dashboard. This is an amazing feature.
Their is a heart-rate icon on the Charge 2 display that tells you if you’re in one of three heart-rate zones. The fat burn zone measures low to medium intensity and is measured at 50 to 69 percent of the maximum heart rate. There is an optimum Cardio zone, which is at 70-84 percent of the maximum heart rate, and is the medium to high intensity exercise zone. There is a peak heart-rate zone which is the high-intensity exercise zone for short intense sessions that totally improves performance and speed. This is greater than 85 percent of your maximum heart rate.
Heart-rate monitoring works well with an Interval Training feature, which guides you in alternating periods of high-intensity exercise and recovery to maximize your workouts so you can stay focused.
Another great feature of the Charge 2 is that you can measure your Cardio Fitness Level, which gives a score as an estimation of your maximum amount of oxygen your body can use when you’re working out at your hardest level. The higher the Cardio Fitness Score, the better your overall cardiovascular fitness.
these are just a few of the features of this awesome fit watch. you can get a full review of the Fitbit Charge 2 here.
What is the price point on this beauty? $149 from Amazon.
Fitbit Alta HR
The Fitbit Alta HR has almost all of the same features as the Charge 2, and is the same price, but in a design that is 25 percent slimmer. The Alta HR has continuous heart-rate, basic phone notifications, and is an awesome fitness companion.
It’s comfortable to wear and doesn’t sacrifice any features.
The Alta HR costs $150, the same price as the Charge 2.
As far as what’s the same between these two is that you can expect a wrist heart rate monitor, standard activity tracking features, notifications and interchangeable bands. Both Fitbit fitness trackers also have access to the Fitbit mobile app.
So why would you go for the Alta HR? It’s for someone who wants a sleeker and slimmer device on their wrist.
You will get more detailed information on the full featured review of the Fitbit Alta HR here. We will also have a side by side comparison on another post.
The main difference between the two isThe Charge 2 has the connected GPS, so if you take your phone with you on a run you will be able to see your run on a map. Since both activity trackers are similar in price, we would recommend going with the Charge 2, unless the connected GPS is of no concern to you and you really like the sleeker and slimmer device on your wrist. Overall though, we like both devices and could easily see them both on the list for the best Fitness watches of 2017. The Charge 2 might even be a front runner for the number one spot.

Are the products you recommend here are applicable to men as well? I was looking for a fitness watch that isn’t expensive and is easy to bring whenever I go for a jog or hit the gym. I would recommend your blog to my mom as I think this will help her on her exercises 🙂 nice review! Good job!
Thank you so much for the feedback Anfernee! Yes, the products we recommend on this site are applicable to men as well, and we appreciate the recommendation for your mom.
Hi Julie,
Great article, I’ve found fascinating!
I do a lot of exercises, and I thought I would need a fitness watch to check my heart rating and count my calories. I also swim quite often, so I think I will go with the waterproof. I really like the Fitbit flex 2, it looks beautiful, and I love the color. Just a question, please. Is this watch water resistant or waterproof?
Thank you in advance!
Hi Daniella, that is a great question. In general all of the Fitbits are water-resistant. Which means they are splash proof. The Flex 2, however, is actually waterproof and works while you are in the pool. It is intended to be worn while swimming.
You are very welcome Brandon. Thank you for visiting my site.
