The Fitbit Charge 2 Review – Should You Buy This One?

With all of the fitness trackers and fit watches to choose from, not all combine the best in technology with the style that fitness loving women need and want. Yes, we want the best in technology, but we want it to look great and not weigh a ton on our wrist, yes we want it all. The Fitbit Charge 2 Review you are about to read addresses the needs of the everyday fitness conscious women.

About The Fitbit Charge 2

The Fitbit Charge 2 Review

The Fitbit Charge 2 fitness watch is a Heart Rate monitor plus a Fitness Wristband. It puts your daily exercise motivation on your wrist and adds smartphone notifications you need most and includes a sleek design with an interactive OLED display.

It tracks heart rate continuously to maximize workouts, tracks calorie burn and provides a clear picture of your health.

The Fitbit Charge 2 essentially replaced the Alta and Blaze which were dropped earlier in 2016.

With the Charge 2, there’s a host of new features including guided breathing, interchangeable bands, a larger screen and new data tracking with VO2 Max.The Fitbit Charge 2 Review

It is a is a very affordable ($150) tracker that captures your activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, while measuring your heart rate and monitoring your sleep. Another awesome thing about this fit watch is it has connected GPS.

The Charge 2 connects with your phone to push call, text and email alerts to your watch. The workout function allows runs to be measured, cycling sessions, or any other activity while delivering immediate heart-rate feedback with this mode on. Connect the device to the GPS on your phone, and you’ll also see your distance and pace right on the screen.Buy the Fitbit Charge 2

Check this out, a “relax” function takes you through breathing exercises, tailored specifically to your heartbeat.

Check out the video below for more feature details. You can also check out our article on the best fit watches for women here.

Who is The Fitbit Charge 2 for?

I really feel that fitness should not be a laborious en-devour, but should be an everyday activity, capturing what you enjoy doing into your fitness activities. So, rather than locking yourself into a workout room slaving away on the treadmill, perhaps it would be better to take a jog or walk in a beautiful park. Or, if you enjoy a particular sport, like handball or something that you enjoy, doing that instead. It provides a better mindset overall.

So, that being said, you can wear the Charge 2 around the clock, and you get a pretty accurate look at your general health when it comes to sweating it out as well as resting. It records your approximate calories burned, flights of steps climbed, hours slept, steps taken—and your resting heart rate, too. This is what we really love about the Fitbit Charge 2.

Now comes the best part, the comfort and style. This is a very stylish fit watch. When I put this on for the first time, I was amazed, not only about how it looked on my wrist, but how comfortable it was. you can interchange the bands with either one of fours choices. The video above shows what these look like. It really does not look like a fit-watch, unless you really look at it closely. This makes it a perfect fit for a women.

Another surprise feature was the “relax” tool. At any moment, if I was feeling a little frazzled or in a panic, the quick 3-minute breathing exercise helped bring me back to a calm and relaxed state of mind, staying energized with a clear state of mind.

Should You Buy The Fitbit Charge 2?

Before answering this question, let’s take a look at the Pros and Cons and decide.

Pros

  • All day activity tracking
  • Auto Sleep Tracking & Silent Alarms
  • Stylish Interchangeable Bands
  • Large easy to read OLED Screen
  • The overall design is very pleasing
  • Long Battery Life
  • Wireless Syncing
  • The big one– Connected GPS

Cons

  • The heart rate monitor on the back protrudes a bit, but after using the Charge 2 for quite a while we haven’t noticed it as much as we thought.
  • The Charge 2 is water resistant, but not waterproof, meaning it’s fine dealing with sweat and rain, but Fitbit doesn’t recommend taking it in the shower, which is a little annoying. Given how much the Charge 2 does, we feel like we should be able to take it into the pool too.

  2. The fitbit charge 2 seems like a great fit watch for the everyday person like me. I’ll say I was especially impressed with the customized breathing exercises that are tailored to your heartbeat.. That would be incredibly helpful for someone like me; who basically knows nothing but put your hands over your head and walk it out. I also loved that the bands are interchangeable. I will be putting this on my wish list! Thanks for the informative review!

    • Thanks for the feedback Shelby! Yes, the customized breathing exercises are awesome. The other thing that is really cool that Julie and I found out when we ordered ours, is that Fitbit offers a complete community full of support. Things like, how to use your fitbit to lose weight and a bunch of other support. It is an amazing community that offers a huge amount of value.

  3. Hey Julie, your article was awesome. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about the Fitbit and I’ve been curious about getting one and seeing it in action; I do a lot of walking and running so it is a good investment in my opinion. How many do you have, the fitbit; what made you buy it? I like that the fitbit comes in many colors, I like blue. Anyway, this is a product that’ll benefit people the world over. Good job!

    • Thanks R.J. for stopping by my site. To answer your question, I have tried several types of fitness watches and have found the Fitbit Charge 2 to meet all of my needs. I wanted a fitness watch that had the GPS feature, but also looked good and felt comfortable on my wrist and the Fitbit Charge 2 met both of those criteria.

  4. While I have yet to invest in a Fitbit anything, I love the idea that it seems lightweight. I haven’t worn anything that resembles a watch on my wrist because the only thing I’ve ever been used to were the heavy dinner plate watches or the  ones that make your wrists really sweaty and itchy. I also love that the Fitbit comes in different colors because I’m one of those people that needs to know I have color options to choose from if  I’m going to invest in something like this. I also like that you can sync Apple products with it because it’s just a cool feature to have, especially if someone is needing to monitor their activity on a regular basis.

  5. Oh this post just came at the right time as I’m looking for a perfect gift to my best friend. She loves watches. I haven’t heard about this Fitbit Charge 2 but after reading your post – it sounds very smart aside from the fact that it is not waterproof and can’t be used during swimming time.

The price from Amazon looks very affordable – so this makes the perfect gift for my friend.

    Thanks for this great review.

    Best regards,

  6. Fitbits are some pretty solid watches to have. I debated getting the larger one, I think it was called the flex I can’t remember. But that was when I was looking for a smart watch, ultimately I ended up getting an Apple watch.

But fitbits are really good for when you want to track calories and do lots of fitness stuff, which I am pretty bad at tracking.

  8. Hi there, absolutely helpful review. And this is coming from a guy that is looking to buy for his wife a fitness watch for her birthday coming up in December.

My wife and I love to do the P90X Workout program. In addition,we love our natural hikes and simple jogging. She has been eyeing these fitness watches for a awhile now, and I really do not know much about them.

Your review has given me all the info that I need. She is not someone, who will likely take this watch into the shower or swimming pool, so I think this Fitbit Charge 2 is the perfect companion for her.

Just one question, ‘do these devices carry a warranty of some kind?” By the way, she is also a stylish lady and I think that she is going to dig the fact that she can customize the bands to her fancy.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Regards

    • Thanks for the awesome feedback Roopesh! To answer your question, Fitbit has a 45 day return policy that allows you a full refund within that time frame. Plus, you have Amazon’s return policy as well. I actually purchased this one with the intent of trying out for 45 days and was pleased with it, so I kept it. I have had it for over a year now and still love it. I also love the fact that you can switch bands.

  9. I am so happy that you wrote on this topic…fitness trackers! I wish I would have had this article to read a few months ago when I was comparing all of them trying to decide which one to go with.

You made so many great points about the comfort and ease of the the Fitbit Charger 2, as well as the cool colors. It is too bad you can’t shower and swim with it though.

The price point is a major plus compared to many of the other fitness trackers out there I will say:/

I did end up going with the Apple Watch…only because I have an iPhone and my brother works for Apple. Lol! I just really wanted to be able to leave my phone behind if I wanted to and still be able to be found… 😉

Thank you for the info!                                                                                                                                                                 Chris
