Best Fitness Watch For Women – 2019

At Fit watches for women, we spent many hours researching and testing to determine the best fitness watch for women in 2019. We spent days researching and testing many kinds of fitness watches and found that certain critical features, weight, battery life, style, comfort and looks were most important.Related image

Fitness watches are typically classified into two main categories with some overlap in between. There are fitness trackers and then there are smartwatches, and then we have hybrids of the two. Nearly all Fitness trackers count steps, monitor sleep, and track basic exercise. They usually do not have GPS and are smaller and less bulky.

Smartwatches, on the other hand are more versatile and can be used for a large range of activities. Because they typically have GPS tracking, they tend to be physically bigger and more expensive than fitness trackers.

Keeping these things in mind, we have selected the top three to include combinations of the advantages of each of these two types of fitness watches and kept overall value as the key indicator.

The Fitbit Versa smart watch scored the highest marks in every category, including price and overall value, and is our top pick.

If you love the idea of tracking and monitoring your fitness and having all the awesome features of a smartwatch, then you will love this watch. It provides everything you need to monitor your heart rate 24/7, provides phone free music, on-screen workouts, supports many apps, coaching and much more. It has 15+ exercise modes, monitors female health and has a 4+ day battery life. Plus has an amazing price point the blows away the competition, which includes the Apple Watch 3, which is twice the price.

5/5 product Rating

Fitbit, is a well-known name in high quality fitness trackers. This is Fitbits second attempt at the actual smartwatch arena and it is a great improvement over their first one known as the Fitbit Ionic. There are a huge number of features that the Fitbit Versa smartwatch offers.

This very attractive watch includes useful features such as on-screen workouts where you get personalized on-screen workouts that play on your wrist, 15+ exercise modes and monitors female health as well.

Other popular features include a 4+ day battery life, heart rate tracking, connected GPS, guided breathing sessions, tracks swims, has access to many apps, and allows you to store and play 300+ songs on your watch. It also allows you to stay on track by sending you personalized reminders.

#2 Apple Watch Series 4

The Best Fitness Watch For Women – Runner Up

One cannot do an article on fitness watches without mentioning the Apple Watch Series 4. I have to say, it is a very, very close runner-up to the best pick that Fit watches for women has analyzed. The only real reason this wasn’t tied for number one or perhaps #1 itself is when we talk about price.

The Apple Watch Series 4 is not in the same price range as the Fitbit Versa and, unless you really need some features that comes with this amazing watch, the overall value made us pick the Versa as our number one pick. However, the Apple Watch Series 4 does offer some amazing features to say the least.

First of all, there are electrodes built into the Digital Crown and the back crystal work together with an ECG app to read your heart’s electrical signals. You simply touch the digital crown to generate an ECG waveform in just 30 seconds. Then the ECG app can indicate whether your heart rhythm shows signs of atrial fibrillation, which is a form of irregular heart rhythm, or sinus rhythm, which indicates your heart is beating in a normal pattern.

This is similar to an electrocardiogram. It’s an amazing achievement for a wearable device that provides critical data for doctors and peace of mind for you.

Along with many of the other features mentioned for the Fitbit Versa, it also has a unique fall detection system with emergency SOS, that has the potential to save lives. What happens is it detects that you have fallen. When this happens, a hard fall alert is delivered and you can easily initiate a call to emergency services or you can dismiss the alert. If you do not respond after a minute, the emergency call will happen automatically and a message is sent with your location to your emergency contacts.

#3 Garmin Vivomove HR

best fitness watch for women

Best Budget Fitness Watch For Women

There are many features that make this Fitness Watch and excellent choice for the fitness conscious woman. For one, it

allows you to stay connected with smart features such as music controls and smart notifications for incoming calls, text messages, calendar reminders and more. You can check out my full review of the Garmin Vivomove HR here.

It also has 24/7 heart rate monitoring with Elevate wrist heart rate technology.

It has wellness monitoring tools, such as all-day stress tracking and a relaxation timer which helps you manage stress and sleep monitoring. Like the Fitbit Versa, it also displays steps, calories, distance and heart rate. It also has a long battery life of up to 5 days in smart mode. In just plain watch mode, it can last up to two weeks.

The Vivomove HR uniquely features a touchscreen with a hidden display. It has real watch hands that show the time and moves away when you swipe through your information such as heart rate, messages and more. The real watch hands are very convenient for someone like myself, because I am a nurse and can use the hands to manually monitor patients heart rates and things of that nature.

This really does give you the best of both worlds with the ticking watch hands meet a touchscreen and a hidden display. What is really cool is the smart display only appears when you quickly turn your wrist to glance at your watch and then the watch hands move out of the way when you interact with the touchscreen and then move back to the correct time when you are finished.

It is an excellent looking watch for a women and isn’t like having a huge rock wrapped around your wrist like others we tried. The only feature that kept us from considering this a number 1 pick was that it is not waterproof like the Fitbit Versa.

Conclusion

When it comes to choosing the best fitness watch for women, it helps to understand the different features that are available for the fitness minded women. The information in this article is designed to help the consumer decide what features are important to them and what type of watch they want to purchase. 1. This is a very useful article.  My ire has been looking for a smart watch.  She has tri d several, but always sends them back because they aren’t exactly what she wants.  In fact, we just returned one the other day.  I think I will be looking at the Apple Watch to see if that works for her Based on your review.  Thanks again for the help.

    • Thank you Nate, yes the Apple watch is jammed packed with features. I especially like the fall detection. I read an article the other day about how it saved a man who fell in the shower and became unconcious. The watch sent a message to emergency services and they saved him. His daughter is the one who was interviewed in the story. It is definitely a great fitness watch.

  3. Thanks for writing this article on fitness watches. They truly are gaining so much popularity and many companies are trying to get into the market. It really is a shame that the Apple watches are so expensive because it automatically prevents some more budget-minded folks from purchasing.

I hadn’t seen the vivomove before! I like how it looks more like a stylish watch than a fitness specific device. That’s a really cool design for a heck of a lot less than the Apple. Thanks for giving a nice selection and thorough detail on all three of these!

    • You are welcome steve. Yes, the Vivomove is a real nice looking watch and from a woman’s point of view, this is something that I would wear going out to a nice dinner. The idea behind owning one of these fitness watches is to wear it all day long to track your overall fitness and not have to take it off because it looks like a brick on your wrist. That is what I really like about the Vivomove. It is packed with features and looks awesome as well!

  5. Staying fit in our society is important for men and women. I know your site is geared for women, but a good solid fitness program should be required for all genders. Fitness watches are a great tool. Providing everything you need to monitor your heart rate 24/7. Also, with your headphones on, listen to phone free music and view many on-screen workouts. This is a great product that supports many apps, coaching and so much more.

I have a female friend who’s a fitness buff that loves using these types of watches. She thinks they’re great. The 15+ exercise modes are features most women love, which monitors the females health. And the  4+ day battery life is definitely a big plus. With the various types of watches, I was wondering was one type better than the other?

  7. Your article on fitness watches is very well done. I have a problem with this product though or should I say my friend has a problem with this kind of watches, I don’t know if she’s just buying fakes, but she always have to return them because, they don’t do what they are describe to do. But I will show her this article though maybe she will be interested in some of those.

    • Hi Nathaniel, thanks so much for your feedback. Yes, I have to say, you do get what you pay for with some of these fitness watches that are in the lower price range. I have had a few people ask whether I felt that the lower cost ones would be worthwhile. My suggestion is to purchase a good one and stay away from the low end ones. They simply do not measure up with better technology offered by Fitbit and some of the other name brands.

  8. I enjoyed this article. I have been working out at the gym, doing walking for fitness and a little yoga, but I have never thought of getting a watch such as those mentioned above. I think I would choose to vivomove HR. I like something stylish, not too heavy and I am not particularly interested in all those extra features in the Versa and Apple series. Thanks for this information. I am sure I will find a fitness watch useful.

  9. After reading your review about fitness watches the vivomove seems to be the one that I gravitate to. It looks like a watch and I like the fact that the face of the watch appears to be large. As for the fitness side to the watch. I prefer the heart monitoring feature. Are you able to change the watch band to different colors? Thanks!

    • Hi Evie, yes there is a fairly large selection of watch bands available for the the Vivomove. This is really a great fitness watch. Being a nurse, I really like the clock face on this one and the ability to have a visual second hand available to look at. Thanks for visiting my website.

  10. This is a great review I’ll be showing my girlfriend, she has the Fitbit Charge one of the first ones and has been looking to upgrade due to the battery consistently needing charging (she’s got the first gen. so it’s old). My logic with her upgrading to a smartwatch with the health thing like these is due to her trying to do multiple things at once and holding her phone with her shoulder (she hates Bluetooth in her ear) so I’m thinking this will be the best of both worlds for her. Thanks for the review and maybe just maybe it’ll stop me from having to get the screen fixed on her phone all the time! Thank you.

    • Hi Jason, that sounds great. Yes, I certainly know what you mean. I myself have had to upgrade, and I may do it again as well. When I first looked into these watches I thought I would only need a fitness tracker. But, later on I realized that a smartwatch was more appropriate. I was also lugging around my phone and then realized that I didn’t really need to do that. so, I ended up looking into the Fitbit versa Smartwatch. I was worried at first about the larger watch, but it really is light weight and looks fashionable as well. Thanks for the feedback.
